The owners of this house include an architect who is an avid gardener. We created a master plan that the couple can implement over time, as their budget and energy allow. The first step was to create a living screen of Cryptomeria trees between their property and a new, large house next-door.
The next step was the creation of a palette of plants that were textural, had seasonal interest (the owners come here year-round) and can live in sandy soils. We used existing plants where possible, sometimes moving them to improve the overall effect and function of the spaces.
